The Problem
This ogee gutter replacement was carried out for a homeowner in Cheltenham. The existing guttering along the garage roofline had seen better days and was no longer doing its job reliably.
Old gutters often sag, leak at the joints or fall out of level. When that happens, rainwater spills over the edge instead of reaching the downpipe. Over time this stains brickwork, soaks the ground by the walls and can damage the fascia behind.
The homeowner wanted a replacement that would work properly and also look right on the property.
Why an Ogee Profile?
Ogee guttering has a decorative, stepped front that gives a more traditional look than standard half-round gutters. It also holds a good volume of water, so it copes well with Cheltenham’s heavier downpours. You can read more about the different options in our guide to gutter profiles, materials and types.
For this property, a black ogee system suited the red brick and the style of the house, so it was the natural choice.
The Solution
Our team removed the old guttering and checked the fascia boards behind it. With a sound base in place, we fitted the new ogee gutter with the correct fall towards the outlet, so water drains away quickly rather than sitting in the run.
We then connected a new black downpipe, fixed securely to the brickwork with matching brackets. Every joint and corner was sealed and checked before we left.
The Result
The finished installation is neat, straight and fully watertight. The black ogee profile gives the roofline a crisp, traditional finish that suits the house far better than the old system.
Most importantly, rainwater now flows into the gutter and away down the pipe, protecting the brickwork and ground below. Our gutter replacements also come with a 10-year guarantee.
